PetroChina and Shell sign long-term Gorgon LNG supply contract

Beijing, 24 November 2008: PetroChina International Company Limited (PetroChina) and Shell Eastern LNG (Shell) today signed a binding Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) for the long-term supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Gorgon project in Western Australia and the Shell LNG portfolio.

During the 20-year contract term, Shell will sell up to two million tonnes per annum of LNG to PetroChina.

The SPA was signed by Wang Lihua, President of PetroChina International, and Kathleen Eisbrenner, Executive Vice President of Shell Global LNG. Present at the signing were Liao Yongyuan, Vice President of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), and Lim Haw Kuang, Executive Chairman of Shell Companies in China.

Kathleen Eisbrenner said: “I am delighted Shell has signed this strategic contract with PetroChina, which is another milestone in our growth of LNG supplies into China, and shows Shell’s continuing commitment to Chinese LNG customers.”
